Yes they are HMA certified. You can ask to see their certificate when you go in for pick up.
Yes
No. Pickup or dine in only.
They do closeup shop around new year for a week two, so best to check before heading in.
This restaurant is one of a handful of local Hakka restaurants that is still thriving in Scarborough. Their dishes exceed in quality compared to what I would find in a chain restaurant like Hakka Legend. The best part about this restaurant is that steam rice is included when you order a main course. Hakka Legend stopped this practice earlier this year, which was a huge bummer and part of the reason for me to stop going there. I love their Bombay fish dish and the chilli chicken they serve here.
The food was awesome. I loved the chilli chicken.
It’s hit or miss. Either it will be fresh or exact opposite. This is the first Hakka restaurant ever in GTA. I have been going here for last 17 years. Nobody can duplicate the taste. I have been to countless restaurants that I m still in the process of reviewing. Must try this place.
I was served spoiled food this past weekend... I spat it out right away and had them come get my plate. It may have not been their fault but serving spoiled food in a restaurant that has been around for quite some time is a big QUALITY CONTROL issue. I mean, how can you go wrong with deep fried shrimp??!! Please check your food next time before they come out of the kitchen, definitely my last time getting food from your restaurant.
Went in for a quick little dinner tonight and enjoyed the food! Everything was fresh and quality was impressive.
I really liked their dishes. I always get excellent customer service here. The place is well organised and the employees are always nice. Will come back again.
COZY AND CLEAN! 5/5 FOR ATMOSOHERE!FOOD 4/5. THE FLAVOURS ARE THERE BUT THE RATIO NEEDS ADJUSTMENT. GENEROUS PORTIONS THOUGH, SO THATS A PLUS.BEEF PAKORA WAS GOOD BUT WAY TOO SALTY. I WANTED TO CHUG A CUP OF WATER W.EVERY BITE! 4/5.CHILI CHICKEN WASNT AS GOOD AS I REMEMBERED IT BUT I TRIED IT WITH GRAVY/SAUCE AS OPPOSED TO HAVING IT DRY. 4/5.SPICY FRIED RICE W.CHICKEN WAS KIND OF "TOO WET" FOR A FRIED RICE..MAYBE ITS SUPPOSED TO BE MORE "WET"? STILL GOOD THOUGH. RE-FRIED IT AT HOME FOR LEFTOVER LUNCH THE NEXT DAY! 4/5SERVICE WAS GOOD! STAFF ARE ALL VERY FRIENDLY AND ATTENTIVE. FOOD CAME OUT FAIRLY QUICKLY TOO! 5/5
I'm actually not a big fan of Hakka food but this place is excellent. Food is taste, fresh and portion are generous. This also the closes I have had to Montreal Chinese food and it's just amazing. Chicken pakora and Cantonese chow mein are excellent!!!
Great spot, really quick food service and the wait staff is funny and quick.
A decent place for hakka cuisine. Portion size was good. Chilli chicken tasted yummax! 😍 Also, prices were reasonable!!
If you are looking for spice, this place has good spicy hakka options. They billed extra for using a credit card, which was not cool, but good food. So if you want to order from here just remember it may cost more than the price on the menu.
I ordered chili chicken as it seemed the most famous and the pictures were tempting on web.And it looked nothing like pictures and tasted nothing like chili chicken. Not spicy at all and it was too wet. I had to throw away a lot of it!Did the chef or management change? I would never have craving for such dish again.
I had an excellent time at this restaurant. We loved the nice ambience and the menu. The staff members are very friendly. I’m content we ultimately managed to visit this restaurant.
Takeout lunch special..Food is delicious specially the best chilli chicken. Reasonble prices and ir come with a pop. Portions are decent size not big. If they can serve/pack this in correct size box the presentation will be good when we open the box. Service at the take out counter is good and attentive.
One of the best Hakka Chinese place. You definitely should try their Chicken Pakora. It's simply mouthlasious!!!! Love this place!
We went there without any reservation but they still managed to accommodate our big group. Space is not that big but it gives cozy and comfortable vibes. They have a pretty big selection of meat and vegeterian options. Prices are really reasonable and it is halal as well. We ordered multiple vegeterian and meat dishes. Serving size was really good. Taste overall was delicious. It was little bit on the spicy side but it was bearable. Staff was also really friendly and helpful. I loved the overall experience there and I will for sure go there again.
Tried the Vegetarian Szechwan fried rice and paneer Manchurian, costed around $22 with taxes. Honestly, it felt very half hearted and didn't taste that great. The service is quick, but the servers are too laid back,The quantity is good enough, one dish can easily serve two people, The food was an okay one time experience, the rice was nice and cooked properly but lacked flavours, they just loaded it with chunks of cabbage and broccoli mainly. The paneer was soft, the gravy was supposed to be thick but the consistency was more like jelly, it tasted fine though but wasn't upto the mark. It didn't convince me as a Paneer Manchurian .Will give a 3 to the overall ambience, food and service (as I cannot give 2.5)
My friend brought some of Federick’s food for our potluck and it was delicious. I ended up ordering some takeout (chilli chicken and green beans) this week. The portions are great, and it satisfied my craving for spicy and savoury food. It is a bit oily, but it doesn’t make you feel heavy or lethargic after. The price is also really affordable for what you get. I’d definitely order again.
Good food. Very extensive menu with good prices
If you are looking for spice, this place has good spicy hakka options. They billed extra for using a credit card, which was not cool, but good food. So if you want to order from here just remember it may cost more than the price on the menu.
I never rate a place 1 star but I have to do it for this place, I found the guy at the counter very rude when came to take order, he behaved like a bouncer at a bar, which ruined mood for the dinner.Thought food must be good and I'll forget their behavior. But the food was horrible to taste, never had such bad Hakka food in more than 15 plus Hakka places I have tried. Sorry to the owner for posting such a bad review ☹️
The Best!! Never Disappointed.
Nice halal one. Excellent lunch deals for $5. Great taste. Must visit. Quite surrounding and busy location. Love it.
Been goin here for 20 years or so.Great food overall. The service is usually good too. Its located in the north east corner.Usually a mission to find parking here as the lot is very small. The food is really good. Try their chilli chicken and lunch menu. Delicious!
Classic Hakka, decent portions and usually very busy. You cannot be on a diet and have this food though. You have been warned. Great for once in while trying to live a healthy life style ;)
One of my favourite Chinese food places since I was a kid, the chili chicken is to die for
Good food and service. Decent vegetarian selection for my dad
Hakka food is one of the many ways to my heart, and my family has been grabbing food from here since I was a child. Great portions, chili chicken is a must try! Can be very busy at peek times and the takeout/waiting area is very cramped, 3-4 people is enough to make it cramped.
The food is alright, the chilli chicken is a hit or miss. At times it's soft and tender, at times it's hard. Dining is pretty much full all the times but you can get a seat in 5-10 minutes. Portions are ok, not too much or too less. Bill is usually 20 per person on Average.
Food was great. Portions were amazing for the price I paid as well. I got the general tso lunch special.
Excellent food and friendly service. Big portions for a very economical price. Went with my significant other and she enjoyed it as well. It has a nice ambiance and looks clean and modern on the inside.
Great food, decent service, but not the cleanest. The bottom on my chair and top of the table were sticky. The spring roll is extremely oily, but the food overall is amazing. The food can get very spicy here, so be careful what you ask for.
At the first moment you arrive in this restaurant the waiters give you a comfortable feeling. Very comfortable hosts, it is a kind restaurant to enjoy with your friends or with your date. very good cooking, talented chef, modest cost and generous service. Highly recommended.
They food was fresh and flavourful. The service was exceptional and the staffs were kind and thoughtful. The food comes in huge portions so don't be surprised if you have so much of leftovers. The price is not very expensive, worth the moneys!
Not the best chili chicken was decent but I had way better
Taste food and you get a lot of food for what you pay, compare to other restaurants
A hidden gem for good Hakka food. Nice variety of food, not just the traditional stuff. Must try Manchurian rice, something new and delicious 😋.
Hands down the best Hakka food in Scarborough. Also..Hakka food is much better in the east end of the city. Worth the drive out if you're in Toronto.
Today was my first time eating at Federick and I was impressed with the food. I was in search of pepper shrimp to satisfy a month's long craving, and instead found amazing garlic shrimp (dry) that went above & beyond my expectations. Also tried the fish pakora, chili chicken & Manchurian shrimp fried rice — all equally impressive. The restaurant itself is a little small but that became entirely irrelevant to me when I tasted the food. I will definitely be back again. This is now one of my new favourite spots.
Great chicken pakora. The Noddles we're good. Wasn't a fan of the Manchurian chicken
Grreat ambience. Great food but could be better if they go light on salt as well as the customer service can pay attention to orders rather than saying we will close in an hour so order soon.
The BEST hakka restaurant in the city. Food comes out fast and fresh. Cheap prices and huge portions.
Federick Restaurant Toronto is one of the famous restaurants in Toronto who serves Halal meals. All of the food items I have tried are excellent. I really love the tasty Indian and Bangladeshi food over there. They have parking, wheelchairs accessible entrance and washroom.
I like their chilli paneer and that's the only reason I go for. Soup was okay. Heard their Bombay chicken is really good too.
As a first timer, I was greatly impressed! Foods were so tasty. Super yummy! Will surely come back for more.
Food is not the same super greasy food and definitely the chef lacks interest in cooking.
Cozy restaurant with smiling staff and quick service at reasonable price
So it has certainly been a while since my last visit to this restaurant having moved away from Scarborough. Didn’t realize that they place is completely renovated and the decor and ambiance is definitely a step up from what I last remember. The food was exceptional. Biting into the plate of chilli chicken brought back all the wonderful memories from the high school days past. All the items on the menu were great. Food was prepared professionally, piping hot and extremely flavourful. Staff were courteous and friendly.
This place has the BEST chicken pakoras. Unbeatable. The prices are great for the quantity too. Wait time can be a bit long, but understandable considering they are usually pretty busy. Recommend calling in advance if you're planning to order takeout.
Amazing food. Highly recommend the garlic chicken. The server named Kiran was very helpful and she was very sweet. Will definitely go back.
